Water Clarity
The Middle Fork of the Salmon River is known for its crystal clear water allowing for exceptional dry fly fishing throughout the summer months.
The Middle Fork River is a highly protected river and offers the first ever catch and release river system in the country. This 100 mile stretch of river offers cutthroat, bull trout, and rainbow trout fisheries. Due to its wilderness setting, the Middle Fork sees very little outside pressure, creating a lot of opportunity for the fishing enthusiast.

Traveling the Middle Fork Salmon River was a dream come true having occupied my bucket list for many years! Middle Fork River Tours made it all possible with a remarkable river crew – all were knowledgable, experienced and fun. Being a whitewater enthusiast and fly fisherman, I found this adventure to be all that I could hope. Especially exciting was the fly-in to Indian Creek launch site in a small plane. Even with lower water levels in August, there was plenty of challenging rapids as well as countless catches of absolutely beautiful, native cutthroat trout, ranging from 10″ – 17″ – dry fly fishing at its funnest!
